Founder mode isn't a company stage — it's a way of operating. It's the environment where the vision moves fast, the strategy shifts, and legal is expected to keep up without slowing things down. Whether you're Series B or post-IPO, if you're operating in a founder-led culture, you know what this means: execute the vision, read the markets, close deals faster, govern a board, build an AI-enabled legal function — all while protecting the company from risk.
TechGC Nexus 2026 puts you in the room with peer GCs navigating the same founder-led dynamics to share and tackle these challenges together.
Join 300 of your fellow TechGCs including from Bilt Rewards, Zip, Figma, Opendoor, Nextdoor, Archer Aviation, Automattic, Dropbox, Glean, Menlo Ventures, Kleiner Perkins, Stord, Substack, Yelp, and more.
Exclusively for TechGC members and guests that are GCs at venture backed startups, venture capital funds and public tech companies. By invitation only. Non-transferable.
This program is built around a curated cohort model designed to reflect how pressure moves through a company and into the legal function. Attendees will spend the first two rounds of breakouts with assigned peer cohorts based on company stage and self-reported priority areas. As the day unfolds, cohorts move through a structured progression from external market dynamics to internal decision-making and governance. In the afternoon, groups are formed by topic preference and legal team size, allowing for more relevant discussion of execution within similar team contexts, with a particular focus on AI and technology.
Breakout sessions follow one of two formats—small group discussions or interactive presentations, depending on the topic. Attendees will compare approaches, test assumptions, and learn how others are navigating similar inflection points.
Featured Discussion topics include:

Pre-conference Welcome Dinner
Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar in the Fairmont San Francisco
Join your peers for dinner with a touch of tropical flair at the Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar in the Fairmont San Francisco where guests gather around a large central “lagoon,” once the hotel’s indoor swimming pool. Tropical rain, thunder and lightning storms blow through from time to time. Anthony Bourdain called this famous San Francisco location “Completely, completely, awesome". Aloha attire encouraged, though certainly not required.
Mainstage Session: On the Record: The GC in the Public Narrative
The conventional norm in moments of legal risk is silence. Do not comment, do not editorialize, do not give the other side ammunition. At high-growth technology companies, where litigation, regulatory scrutiny, and crisis situations often intersect directly with competition, product strategy, and market perception, that norm is increasingly being tested.
This session examines what happens when GCs make the opposite call. Rather than staying behind the scenes, they step forward publicly, shaping narrative in real time, working closely with communications teams, and using visibility as part of a broader strategy. The discussion is not about the merits of any individual matter, but about the decision to be visible, the internal and external consequences of that choice, and whether this represents a repeatable playbook or a context-specific judgment call.
Mainstage Session: The Future of Work, Company-Building, and the Legal Function
AI is no longer just changing how legal work gets done. It is reshaping how companies are built, scaled, and operated. Investors are backing a new generation of AI-native businesses with fundamentally different assumptions about headcount, structure, and how functions like legal are resourced and deployed. For GCs, this raises a new set of questions: how to advise leadership when operating models are in flux, how to build teams in environments with fewer people and more automation, and how to plan for a future where traditional functional boundaries may not hold.
This session brings together leading investors to share how these shifts are showing up in their portfolios, what they are underwriting in the next generation of companies, and where they see real divergence in how teams will be structured going forward. The discussion will explore how these changes may redefine expectations of the legal function, and how GCs can position themselves to operate effectively in companies being built for a different era.
